Rest In Peace Marcellus Williams

Yo yo yo, y’all wazzup it's ya boi C. Moore and I am writing today with an heavy heart. If you’re unfamiliar with the title I guess I should preface this with a trauma warning.

*Warning: Mentions Death in detail*

This piece was inspired after a Black man was found hung from a tree as if he were a strange fruit. This was shortly after Breonna Taylor, a Black nurse, was murdered in cold-blood by the same people who were sworn to protect her. Which was also directly after the more known George Floyd incident. I wrote and performed this during the protests/global lockdowns of the pandemic around the time these incidents took place. My plan was to repost this particular peace in June of 2025 for Breonna’s birthday, but due to an unfortunate chain of events outside of my control I feel compelled to share now!

I know the days of simple living are behind us, yet better days are still ahead, but currently the state of the global society is traumatic turmoil. The purpose for me writing this peace was to ease the burden on my mind and heart of being a Black man living in these turbulent times as well as bring light to the numerous atrocities committed against people of color that go without media coverage. This is the result of these devastating situations that I have since stomached! Unfortunately, these feelings have bubbled to the surface as an innocent life was taken by the system yet again and again recently.

Unfortunately the execution of an innocent man, which occurred earlier this week has compelled me to post this peace today, because I feel it is relevant and I know someone may benefit from hearing these words.

Change will come.

Rest In Peace Marcellus Williams.
